Portfolio Review.

Grinding out a quick illustration for how the first portfolio review I’ve ever done in my life went! I’m following this one up with a few more simple pages, but I’m just way too exhausted to finish tonight. Besides! I need to get up early tomorrow for another full day of WonderCon 2011 madness. Phewww!

Er, haha. No. Also, I’ve never animated anything, so I don’t think that would really be something I could accomplish. Nor is it something I’ve really wanted to accomplish? But it would be a cool project, lol.

Did your heart drop after he asked if you’ve been to art school? that would’ve happened to me. like “oh no!! he’s gonna say something bad :(” but would have been super relieved after he said that it was fine. and in a way its more impressive, its all natural talent. I’m sure they think the same.

I’ve seen some people with art degrees who have nowhere near the talent you do! You can pretty much buy an art degree (throw thousands of dollars at a school and pass with minimum effort), but you can’t buy talent!

There was an Academy of Art student at WonderCon yesterday who I handed my portfolio to (he had a booth), and he was looking over my stuff and said, “Wow, your stuff is seriously pretty advanced already. I have no doubt that if you got a booth at one of these shows, you’d probably sell a TON of stuff and get a few job offers.” — It was SO helpful to hear that from him. He was saying that even if I am incredibly good, that it would still be wise just to go to school anyway. And I agree.
